DES MOINES, Iowa – A Mega Millions lottery jackpot jumped to $1.02 billion this Tuesday night after the six numbers didn’t match the numbers and won the top prize.
The new potential jackpot could be the fourth largest lottery prize in the country.
The reason why the jackpot is so large is that since April 15, no one has matched the six selected numbers in the game. It is 29 consecutive drawings without a major winner.
Tuesday’s points were: 07-29-60-63-66, Mega Ball: 15.
The $1.02 billion prize is for winners who choose the annuity option, which is paid annually over 30 years. Most winners opt for the cash option, which amounts to an estimated $602.5 million for the next drawing on Friday night.
The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 302.5 million.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states as well as Washington, DC and the US Virgin Islands. The game is coordinated by state lotteries.
